Grants program
In addition to provision of technical assistance, the USAID Agribusiness Project has allocated financial resources for a grants program. This program aims to support agribusiness development in Serbia in accordance with the identified sub-sector strategies.
These financial resources are being used to support investments in agribusiness and the creation of organizations that enhance the business environment in which Serbian agribusinesses operate.
A cost sharing grant may be provided by the Project to cover direct costs such as:
- Lecturing, workshops, seminars;
- Preparation of studies, data collection and analysis;
- Web page development and other activities related to marketing;
- Study trips, trade fairs, business-to-business linkages; and
- Procurement of agricultural and food processing equipment (under specific conditions).
Eligible grant recipients include for-profit and not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations in Serbia, whose activities contribute to a sub-sector development, and to the improvement of agribusiness enabling environment. Prior to submission of a grant application, potential applicants are advised to learn about sub-sectors (Link), and USAID Agribusiness Project's goals and activities (Link).
The value of any individual grant to any organization or project shall not exceed $100,000 and the grantees must provide 35%-70% of the total value for the project activity. Grants should be fully disbursed within one year of grant award.
